Second Award- Stand POD | FGMF Architects

For this pop-up show room we’ve decided to go the opposite way real estate development usually launches a new apartment building. We created a composition of volumes using scaffolding that refers to part of the building to be built (also a project by the office) and a 24/7 open plaza.

The result was an urban intervention more than a simple temporary commercial building. Easily built and fully reusable with zero waste, at night the volumes showcase an outstanding lighting design, periodically changing its color and providing a different scenario from the day-light appearance: rather than the scaffolding, what stands out at night are the floating volumes in the urban landscape.

The use of special (larger than usual) scaffolding structures that have rigidity that allows swings and large spans, enabled the desired effect of temporary urban intervention and square. It is, in a way, a study on the possibilities of using reusable metal structures, which are very few used in the retail and construction market, but have enormous potential with speed, low cost and sustainability, contrary to what is conventionally proposed.
