As a special feature all public spaces (walkways, canteens, lecture halls…) are planned as open as possible, to show transparency as a fundamental idea for a university. The ground floor is designed to create an atmosphere of welcome and symbolizes the heart of the building as entrance area as well as public courtyard, enlivened by several shops. Wrapped in a golden metal façade, the sculptural building interacts with the existing University campus and fits harmoniously, yet distinctively, into the neighbourhood. The spatial organisation of Messestrasse II as well as the academic and medical infrastructure correspond to the international standards and demands of current university buildings. Project development, general planning and local construction supervision was organized by WGA ZT GmbH.
