The Tobolsk Concert Hall is designed as a contemporary architectural landmark in the Podgornaya (Lower Town) area of the historic city, carefully integrated into the unique natural landscape of the right bank of the Irtysh River. The building becomes a part of cultural and recreational cluster as well as the key element of the city panorama seen from the pedestrian viewpoints surrounding the Tobolsk Kremlin.

A two-storey volume with smooth, bionic geometry ceates the architectural image of the Concert Hall, combining facades and roof in a single continuous shape. It brings up refers to natural and cultural sites intrinsic to Tobolsk and Siberia: the snow-covered hills of the valley side, the expressive curves of a mammoth tusk, and the petals of Potentilla tobolica, a unique plant first discovered and described in Tobolsk. These motifs are interpreted into contemporary architectural language, creating a symbolic building that is easy to perceive in the urban landscape.
The interior spatial programme follows the idea of openness and continuity. A two-storey atrium foyer unites all public zones into a single light-filled space. Vertical circulation is presented by a grand curved staircase and open straight flights, creating a dynamic movement sequence. The foyer interiors include light, natural materials that serve as a background for expressive accent elements: a sculptural spiral staircase with an integrated light installation, a curvilinear “wooden” ceiling on the upper level in a warm tone, and an artistic triptych made of perforated metal panels with integrated lighting.
In contrast to the light foyer, the 784-seat auditorium is finished with deeper, warmer tones. Acoustic panels with natural wood veneer, combined with the rich color of the curtain and seating, create a private atmosphere appropriate to the hall’s performance function.
The project documentation for the Concert Hall has been approved by the regional state expertise and construction is currently underway. The planned commissioning of the building is scheduled for summer 2027.
The facades are clad with triangular aluminum panels, enabling the formation of complex curvilinear geometry. Some of the panels feature gradient perforation with integrated architectural lighting, enhancing the volume sculptural quality during evening hours. The contrast between matte aluminum surfaces and structural glazed faсades emphasizes the integrity of shape and public character of the building. The main entrance, facing the Festival Square, is highlighted by a large, slightly curved arch. A standing-seam aluminum roof naturally continues the façade contours, completing the volume without visual interruption. The color concept is based on the principle of “white on white,” rethinking the image of the Tobolsk Kremlin white stone architecture set against snow-covered hills. Subtle light-toned faГ§ade panels and a neutral roof color are combined into a unified envelope that emphasises the sculptural shape of the building and its connection to the historical skyline.
