Stretching approximately 400 metres, the architecture forms a dramatic horizontal silhouette overlooking Victoria Harbour – Central’s longest building and a defining gesture that links the city to the waterfront. This concept of “The Bridge” underpins the entire masterplan vision: a unifying structure that connects Central through spaces of commerce, culture, and community.

The design emphasises permeability and openness, dissolving conventional boundaries between work, leisure, and the public realm. The development’s composition is guided by human scale and experience, introducing new layers of accessibility across its multi-level public realm. Extensive green boulevards, landscaped terraces, and elevated promenades stitch together the site in a sequence of vibrant, people-centred spaces, establishing Central Yards as open space for all along the harbourfront.

Anchoring the development is the largest sky garden ever built in Central – a 160,000-square-foot elevated landscape that brings nature into the urban core. Envisioned as a living ecosystem, the entire Central Yards project supports over 300,000 square feet of multi-level open space featuring more than 400 trees and over 280 plant species, creating habitats that enhance biodiversity and wellbeing. Through biophilic design and technological innovation, features such as Urban Windows optimise microclimate conditions by channelling daylight and natural ventilation through the architecture, reducing energy demand and enhancing comfort throughout the year.

Central Yards is a place of hybrid experiences. Its expansive office component, offering Hong Kong CBD’s largest floorplates, is tailored for next-generation headquarters and innovation-led enterprises. The retail environment embraces a “city within a city” ethos – an interconnected series of terraces, streets, and maisons that merge indoor and outdoor conditions to blur the boundaries between shopping, dining, and social engagement.

At the heart of the cultural offering, a 1,100-seat Broadway‑calibre theatre introduces an advanced private performance venue, designed to host world‑class productions while nurturing local creative talent. Together, these elements form a seamless, multi-dimensional environment that serves both global business and neighbourhood life in equal measure.

Sustainability is integral to every aspect of the design. Central Yards integrates one of the region’s most comprehensive suites of smart and green building systems, targeting nine major international certifications including BEAM Plus, LEED, WELL, and SmartScore. Innovations such as high-performance façades deliver a 30% gain in energy efficiency over standard Grade A offices, while recycled materials and intelligent energy storage reinforce the development’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Through its architectural language, materiality, and human-centred approach, Central Yards pioneers a new model for mixed-use architecture on the harbourfront. It embodies the belief that great cities are defined not only by their skylines, but by how their spaces bring people together – bridging communities, ideas, and generations through design.
