With its nearly 100,000 square feet and maximum seating capacity of 6,500, the venue was designed to flex between baseball and soccer events while delivering great sightlines of the game. Multiple configurations for concerts of different sizes are also easily achievable. Aside from the seating, there are a range of concession points to serve the public, offering local favorites. There is also a private club restaurant and an array of private suites on the upper level, all with fantastic views of the field. Anchoring the upper levels of each wing, there are covered outdoor spaces open to rent for games and events. These will create special moments for community members, institutions and businesses alike, all that want to participate in the excitement of the place.

The architectural expression of the venue mirrors the community. The brick arches harken back to the Italian community and its masonry traditions that are closely identified with the county. Far from being a historic copy, the college was interested in exploring a contemporary version of this traditional approach. The masonry wall system creates a sense of depth within an achievable budget by means of using particular “off the shelf” brick shapes with a careful arrangement. The illusion of depth is created with shadows on an otherwise flat and affordable wall system with continuous insulation behind.  The syncopated rhythm of the arches make a strong gesture on the corner of the campus, marking the venue as in important place.  On the interior, the language of arches is modified to create large horizontal openings to ensure great views of the field. It is one masonry wall system that has two distinct characters contingent upon its purpose. The resulting architectural language is both forward looking and respectful of the past.

This venue will become an important new center for the county, one which creates real excitement, meaningful experiences and true connections between all who visit. The variation and frequency of events will ensure the vibrancy and impact of the place. The architectural iconography is fit to purpose and emblematic of the values of the community. It is a place of excitement and growth. It is Middlesex County.
