The spatial design unfolds through a four-level vertical narrative. On the ground floor, a sense of ceremonial grandeur in the living room reinterprets traditional living rhythms. Columns partially embedded in the wall evoke the protruding eave structures of traditional Fuzhou houses, while an embroidered screen and a lacquered tea table with mother-of-pearl inlay foster a dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art. At the heart of the space, a black spiral staircase anchors the spatial narrative, orchestrating a poetic interplay of light and shadow, and transforming the journey upwards into visible trajectories of light.

The second floor highlights the theme of “heritage of everyday rituals.” Teak Roman columns and the stone table carry the memory of family gatherings, while a 1950s British mahogany-glass cabinet and sprouting maple branches create a visual dialogue between past and present. In the basement, a dark-toned bar counter and culinary scenes elevate cooking rituals into expressions of daily life.On the top floor, private spaces draw on natural imagery as a design language. Silk bedding evokes the night mist of the Min River, while a mirrored bathtub reflects the city’s winding alleys. Here, physical space is transformed into a vessel for the spirit.

The design emphasizes the interpretation of local culture. Inspired by the tides of the Min River, it evokes the poetic aesthetic of ink-wash painting. The embroidered screen and lacquered tea table with mother-of-pearl inlay create an elegant space where tradition and modernity converge.Teak Roman columns and stone tables and chairs support the everyday rituals of family gatherings, while the dark-toned bar counter—like an inkstone steeped in time—becomes a witness to the culinary heritage passed down through generations. In the private areas, natural imagery is translated into healing sensory experiences. Silk bedding evokes the drifting night mist over the Min River, and a mirrored bathtub reflects the morning haze of winding alleys, weaving the city’s cultural memory into the fabric of daily life.

The project breaks away from conventional paradigm of luxury residences, translating the rhythms of family life into spatial order through MILO’s bespoke solutions. The architectural facade preserves the historic fabric of Yantai Mountain area, while the interior adopts a detachable modular design to echo the idea of “democratization of luxury living,” allowing the architecture itself to grow and participate as a cultural vessel in contemporary life. Upon completion, the project becomes a place where every window frames not only natural light but also a dialogue across centuries, fulfilling the vision of a home as a living chapter in family history.
