Situated in Xiong’an New Area and based on the relevant concept planning, the project takes “small streets & dense road network” as the design concept. The planning affiliated roads divide the plot into 8 building groups, hence forming a convenient road network and reducing the city’s pressure on traffic as well. In addition to paying attention to architectural space, the overall layout also minimizes the height of buildings along the roads, striving for proper ratio of street width to building height, optimal spacing between buildings, moderate volumes and friendly scale. Staggered landscape space enables dwellers to share the natural landscape resources while enjoying strolling here.

The project draws on the sedate and grand appearance of architecture during the Liao Dynasty, and adopts the facade structure comprised of roof, building body and base. Roof gently stretches and framework is symmetrical and stale. Curved roof ridges and eaves reveal a dignified and magnificent architectural style. Moreover, the design extracts various decorative architectural elements like eave, railing and window typical in the Song Dynasty and applies related facade techniques to design details, so as to retain the charm of classical architecture and to match contemporary aesthetic taste and functional demands.

For a long time, Xiong’an New Area had been a place where farming and nomadic civilizations are integrated together. Cultural integration makes it open and inclusive. During the Song and Liao dynasties, Xiongzhou Town was a diplomatic, economic and military center, enjoying unprecedented development opportunities and prosperity. Thus, architecture in this period had the most representative local characteristics.

Modern design techniques and materials, coupled with large-area glass curtain wall, bring a simplistic yet transparent facade effect. Curved connected glass around the corner and clean metal lines complement the facades, whilst also creating a classic image awash with cultural charm.

Concentrated commercial buildings are integrated with the hotel through linked off-white horizontal lines, together generating modern and simple public architectural facades. Some elements of apartments in the south area echo the sloped roofs around. The Chinese-style design featuring modern cool gray tone is unified with the surroundings, while keeping some difference.
