Design Inspiration and Concept

The design is inspired by the nostalgic childhood treehouse we all loved, combined with the allure of a mysterious dream where we can escape from the everyday. Featuring a stunning curved woven bamboo surface, the treehouse resembles a cocoon gently nestled among the branches, evoking the image of an alien ship floating in the forest. The curved, woven wood surface was inspired by the cocoon-like structures found in nature, symbolizing protection, mystery, and tranquility.

Sustainability and Regional Authenticity

With its hanging structure, the treehouse achieves a light and elegant presence, flowing seamlessly atop the treetops while protecting the trees from damage. Forest Float uses materials sourced locally from Huangshan, a major bamboo-producing region, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and regional authenticity, harmonizing modern architectural design with the rich natural and cultural heritage of the area. The choice of bamboo not only reflects the ecological sensitivity of the design but also enhances the structure’s connection to its surroundings, creating a seamless blend between the built environment and the forested landscape.

Passive House and Climate Adaptability

Forest Float exhibits a unique beauty in each season. During the summer, the bamboo woven material serves as a natural and efficient passive cooling and breathable material. Bamboo has high tensile strength and elasticity, allowing it to withstand the snow and strong winds common in winter. At the same time, by combining a multi-layer structure with other thermal insulation materials, a comfortable living space is formed in the inner layer.

Immersive Experience A panoramic view reveals an endless expanse of forests and mountains. The curved openings of the cocoon, paired with floor-to-ceiling windows, create an exceptional scenic experience, immersing visitors in the beauty of nature. As one gazes through the expansive windows, the seamless blend of the indoor and outdoor environments evokes a sense of tranquility and awe.
