The project showcases Song Dynasty aesthetics by thoroughly exploring classical literature and paintings from that era. It integrates traditional architectural elements such as “overhanging eaves,” “eaves curtain pillars,” “windproof partitions,” “hanging grid screens,” “pedestals,” and “upturned eaves” from Song Dynasty calligraphy and paintings, which have been modernized and refined in the design. The spatial design features the harmonious coexistence of form and functionality, incorporating twelve aesthetic arts of the Song Dynasty and adheringto the principle of “stillness within motion, and motion within stillness.”

The main entrance features axial symmetry and a three-tier ceremonial sequence, utilizing Song-style elements across multiple dimensions to evoke the gentle and restrained spirit of the Song era. The main building is distinguished by its upturned eaves, golden accents, and a composition based on the golden ratio, creating a highly recognizable identity. The customized facade, with its expansive landscape views and floor-to-ceiling windows, brings the scenery into the space to the fullest. Thoughtful bespoke details, such as the grilles inspired by Badayun patterns (a typical elaborate fabric pattern in the Song Dynasty) and the meticulously controlled span and depth of each space, contribute to an optimal effect. The classical elegance and luxury of Song Dynasty extend into underground space, characterized by a fusion between architectural elements like “Hanging grid screens” and “Badayun patterns” with Song-style items such as jade, porcelain, and paintings. The approach of color painting, combined with metal lines and special craftsmanship, imbues the space with a sense of time and history, faithfully restoring the elegant and luxurious allure of the Song Dynasty.
The project offers visitors a fully immersive experience of the sophisticated elegance and boundless enjoyment of Song dynasty culture, engaging all five senses—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. They will also be able to immerse themselves in the vibrant natural landscapes depicted in the Song Dynasty masterpiece “A Thousand Lis of Rivers and Mountains,” feeling its timeless beauty and prosperity. Additionally, the project’s focus on simplicity and artistic value aligns with the aspirations of contemporary society.
