Cultural Harmony
Wang Daquan drew inspiration from the intertwined histories of Shanghai and Hangzhou, creating a design that harmonizes urban traditions with modern expressions. The result is an atmosphere that radiates tranquility and humility, immersing diners in a sense of rustic simplicity.
Monumental Illumination
At the entrance, a monumental lantern, reaching 3.96 meters in height and 3.1 meters in diameter, bathes the surroundings in a soft, moonlit glow. This grand centerpiece not only serves as a visual spectacle but sets the tone for the entire dining experience.
Spatial Poetry
The architecture mimics the gentle curves of courtyards nestled among mountain ranges. Translucent resin plates, framed by copper strips, partition the space, creating intimate dining areas that maintain an overall sense of connection. The careful design encourages a seamless flow within the space.
Thoughtful Details in Light and Texture
The attention to detail extends to every aspect of the interior. The lantern’s size and material underwent meticulous adjustments to optimize light transmission. Indoor lighting replicates natural light, achieving a delicate balance between daylight, moonlight, and candlelight. Rich textures, ranging from bamboo and paper to wood and gold bricks, infuse the space with vitality and emotion.
Culinary Artistry
Nanlu Huiguan, with its roots tracing back 12 years in Shanghai, has become synonymous with authentic Hangzhou dishes. The restaurant’s commitment to quality extends beyond its culinary offerings. The design ensures a seamless integration of tradition and historical context, creating an environment that evokes memories and stirs emotions.
Culinary Roots and Future Endeavors
As Nanlu Huiguan reestablishes itself in the bustling heart of Shanghai, it stays true to its rustic origins while embracing the vibrancy of the metropolis. The careful fusion of tradition and modernity in both cuisine and design provides patrons with a timeless dining experience. In this culinary haven, the spatial design becomes a narrative, weaving together the histories of two iconic cities. Nanlu Huiguan not only satisfies gastronomic cravings but also transports diners through time and space, creating a dining experience that transcends trends and leaves an indelible mark on memory.
