Gold Winner – Origami Shelf | Sette7

The Origami Shelf brings together the lightness of movement and the strength of natural stone. Inspired by the Japanese art of origami, it represents the balance between the solidity of the material and the elegance of a fluid form. With geometric planes that unfold like paper, the shelf becomes a sculptural, functional, and poetic piece, expressing the harmony between structure and movement.

IDEA

At the heart of the Origami collection is the idea that transformation is just as significant as the final form. Like paper in origami, the stone is shaped by intentional folds, challenging its natural rigidity. This process celebrates the contrast between the strength of stone and the illusion of lightness, resulting in a minimalist, refined, and conceptually rich design. The Origami Shelf represents the evolution of design, a fusion of material innovation and deliberate simplicity.

FORM

The form of the shelf is inspired by the visual language of origami: intersecting planes, dynamic angles, and structural clarity. The stone, cut with precision, creates a play of solids and voids, generating a sense of movement in a static object. Its sculptural quality lies in its ability to appear both strong and delicate, defined by clean lines and a modular structure. This geometry enhances the natural beauty of the stone while suggesting constant transformation.

FUNCTION

Beyond its sculptural presence, the Origami Shelf has a practical function. Its design allows for flexible storage and display, adapting perfectly to residential or corporate environments. With flat surfaces, it can hold books, objects, or art, and it can also serve as a space divider. Despite being made of solid material, the shelf conveys a sense of lightness and openness. A hidden joining system supports the clean design, maintaining elegance and stability.

DIFFERENTIATION

What sets the Origami Shelf apart is the exclusive use of Brazilian natural stones, offering not only beauty but also cultural authenticity. Each piece is crafted with precision, combining local craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic. The invisible joints reinforce its continuous, folded appearance. More than just a piece of furniture, the shelf becomes a functional artwork, adding sophistication and identity to any space.

IMPACT The Origami Shelf goes beyond design by connecting tradition and modernity. By combining artisanal skill with innovative techniques, it brings together the natural and the crafted. The materials are ethically sourced, and the suppliers follow sustainable practices, including the use of solar energy and water reuse. This ensures that each piece is both durable and responsible. The Origami Shelf is more than a piece of furniture; it is a statement of how design can be quiet, essential, and enduring.
