As a holiday resort, Yanqi Lake has formed a certain brand effect. When the Yanqi Lake story was displayed,the miraculous migration journey of monarch butterflies came to the designer’s mind: they are the most prominent example of nomadic life in the microscopic world. They only eat milkweed and live on fir trees. Because of these extreme environmental demands, these gorgeous little creatures spend their lives on the migrating to search for an ideal home… It’s been an amazing journey in every way.

The designer extracts the butterfly element, transforms it into a geometric form, they combines it with modern technology and modern aesthetics to create new elements into the whole design. Inspired by magnificent natural wonders and modern arts, the story takes the wonderful nomadic life of the monarch butterfly as the main line, and creates a wonderful dream-seeking journey to build the ideal residence in people’s hearts.
The main area of the project uses the flexible streamline guide and the concise and exquisite spatial structure. It combines with the elegant and flexible scenery of Beijing Yanqi Lake, and design nine theme series gardens and five water space to create a spatial pattern of one circle, five water spaces and nine gardens. It is dedicated to the realizing contemporary lake dwelling life sample.
Inspired by Sunrise Eastern Kempinski Hotel, located beside Yanqi Lake in Beijing, the designer takes the unique appearance of the hotel as the source, combined with the fountain and mirror water to create a noble and simple welcoming entrance, highlighting the sense of luxury, dignity, solemn and elegant.
The central lake area is inspired by the artistic conception of butterflies flying on the water surface with layers of ripples. The large-scale water system is complemented by the overlapping water. The overlapping curves like butterfly wings and the high difference overlapping water treatment on the waterscape increase the sense of spatial hierarchy .
The center of the waterscape is decorated with butterfly patterns, drawing the outline of the graceful posture of the central lake, like the butterflies dancing in the soft and moving, light and elegant. As the night approach, the lights like fireflies played a beautiful dance music for the butterflies.
The water platform is arranged on the west side of the central lake view. The rigorous straight line forms a contrast with the flexible curve of the lake view, which enriches the spatial form language. On the east side of the lake, a recreational view is created, and the wooden platform extending to the lake provides a water-friendly space, enhancing the site’s interaction and expanding the landscape perspective.
The minimalist mirrored waterscape integrates object, situation and artistic conception. It provides people with a space for leisure, thinking, and tranquility, and create a strong space spirit and artistic landscape.
