2025 UDAD 🏆 Awards

Gold Winner | CHANG’AN YUE THE BELT AND ROAD CULTURE & ARTS CENTRE | Hong Designworks

Chang’an Yue · The Belt and Road Culture & Arts Centre draws inspiration from the ancient instrument “Xun” unearthed from the Banpo site in Xi’an. Its architectural design is characterized by a lively and steady form, resembling the unfurling sails of a ship, symbolizing the winds of music setting sail. Chang’an Yue upholds and promotes this tradition, with its architectural design seamlessly integrating Chinese traditional culture with modern design concepts. Guided by the principle of “harmonizing music with the five tones, and aligning heaven, earth, and humanity in harmony,” it combines the concept of traditional pentatonic scales with modern interior design, presenting a perfect blend of elegance and modernity.

The shared hall features curves inspired by various classical musical instruments, complementing the overall design tone inside and outside the building, showcasing a pure and refined decorative style. The decorative materials used in the hall also reflect a commitment to environmental protection, boasting not only excellent environmental performance but also easy cleaning and maintenance.

The interior design of the opera house audience hall is themed around the convergence of the eight waters of Chang’an and the willows of Ba River, presenting a majestic and grandiose appearance that combines the beauty of classical Chinese art with the bold spirit of the Silk Road culture, evoking a sense of transcending time and space.

The design of the music hall takes into consideration acoustic effects, utilizing light and television technology to present a 360° immersive virtual background effect, greatly enhancing the comprehensive performance of the music space. Additionally, environmental considerations are paramount in the selection of materials, with an emphasis on those meeting environmental standards, such as artificial synthetic stone and artistic ceramics, to reduce carbon emissions and minimize pollutant discharge.

Overall, the architectural design of Chang’an Yue · The Belt and Road Culture & Arts Centre not only embodies the essence of ancient Chinese ceremonial music but also integrates modern design concepts and environmental awareness, striving to become a green and sustainable space with outstanding performance, regional cultural characteristics, and environmental friendliness.
