2025 GFD 🏆 Awards

Gold Winner – FITT Future Headquater | ZZX Group

The project is designed for FITT’s headquarters in Sandrigo, Italy. Spanning 12,500 square meters, the design embodies FITT’s dedication to fostering creativity and advancing industrial production processes. Innovation derives from cross-disciplines and collaboration, with the traditional boundaries of industrial production dissolving. Processes such as product development, research, manufacturing, marketing, and selling are no longer linear or isolated stages but an interconnected chain of innovation. Inspired by the concept of “intertwining,” the building symbolizes this dynamic, non-linear nature of progress driven by collaboration and interaction.

The architectural form of the headquarters features two intertwined strands, each serving distinct yet complementary purposes. One strand is dedicated to work and research spaces, fostering focused innovation and development. The other strand provides areas for relaxation, social engagement, and visitor interaction, encouraging a holistic approach to workplace design. Together, these strands create a vibrant spatial experience, integrating key architectural elements such as an arena, a central courtyard, and accessible roof gardens. These features promote creativity, interaction, and sustainability, aligning with FITT’s mission and values.

The central courtyard and roof spaces play a pivotal role in fostering a comfortable microclimate, providing a serene and inspiring environment for both work and leisure. The accessible roof gardens contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability while offering employees and visitors spaces for relaxation and rejuvenation. By blending functionality with opportunities for inspiration, the design ensures that the working environment supports both productivity and well-being.

The headquarters program includes offices, laboratories, a library, and a multipurpose arena. Spaces dedicated to relaxation, such as lounges, a fitness center, and recreation areas, promote a balanced work environment for staff. Public-facing amenities, including a café, restaurant, and gallery, serve as bridges to the broader community, fostering interaction and engagement. This duality reflects FITT’s commitment to encouraging internal innovation while remaining deeply connected to the world beyond its walls.

The geometry of the new building is rooted in the site strategy, derived from dividing the site into curved pieces. This approach takes cues from the existing building massing and the established circulation of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). By integrating the building with the surrounding landscape, the design gives the impression of growing organically from the ground, enhancing its dynamic and fluid form. The design emphasizes interaction and the exchange of ideas, reinforcing FITT’s mission to intertwine creativity and collaboration. The future headquarters stands as a testament to FITT’s vision of a workplace that seamlessly integrates creativity, functionality, and community. It serves as both an incubator for innovation and a vibrant showcase of the company’s forward-thinking culture. With its thoughtful program, sustainable design, and dynamic form, the headquarters will inspire generations to come while setting a benchmark for corporate architecture.
