Inspired by the stilted building structure, a unique geographical characteristic, and the prototypical concept of The Mountain City, the designers conceived a stacked structure, where the patchwork of stair-steps is at the very center of the exhibition hall, giving full expression to the aesthetics of the building itself, while large surfaces are interwoven and pieced together in the form of steps, pavilions and sloping roofs to recreate the ascending streets and alleys bustling with everyday life bestrewing The Mountain City, a replication of the interdependency among “Human”, “House” and “Alley” within the indoor space.
The interplay between the exterior architecture and the interior space of the building brings the purity of the exterior to the interior while further enriching the inner space with the abundance of generatrix. In the depths of the landscape of lakes and mountains and at the end of the corridor, via a pass-through, geometrical opening, enchanting natural light and shadow is brought inside, striking up a dialogue between the indoor and outdoor enframed sceneries, an extension of the original architectural language following the design philosophy of “openness, flexibility, conciseness.”
Here, the designers are exploring a more harmonious way to integrate their works with the city, nature and life, permeating every aspect from the profile to the tiniest detail to create a new way of life for The Mountain City.
