The minimalist and linear design enhances the imposing nature of the material used in its manufacture: natural stone. This choice of material is directly linked to the integration of biophilic design into the piece, a concept that celebrates the connection between humans and nature.

The dimensions of the Bo Stool and its interlocking assembly system ensure the piece’s versatility, allowing it to also function as a side table or statement piece.

IDEA

The Bo Stool was conceived as a tribute to Lina Bo Bardi, reviving the essence of her architectural legacy to create a piece of furniture that transcends functionality, carrying cultural and artistic significance. The inspiration from Lina’s brutalist lines was reinterpreted with a contemporary approach, connecting the past and the present.

This idea is relevant as it speaks to the current search for timeless designs that respect cultural memory while meeting the aesthetic and functional demands of the modern world. Its suitability lies in translating, in a tangible way, the integration of art, architecture, and biophilic design.

FORM

The minimalist and linear design of the Bo Stool directly reflects the influence of Lina Bo Bardi’s brutalism, bringing pure and imposing shapes that highlight the raw beauty of the material—natural stone. This formal choice communicates sophistication and solidity, appealing to the target audience by offering a piece that is both functional and a work of art.

The development process prioritized the balance between aesthetics and practicality, resulting in lines that resonate with both modern and timeless spaces. Additionally, the interlocking assembly system reinforces the commitment to simplicity and precise engineering.

FUNCTION

Designed to meet the multiple needs of the user, the Bo Stool offers versatility of use. Its dimensions and the assembly system allow it to function not only as a bench but also as a side table, support table, or decorative piece. The durability of the natural stone ensures its longevity, while the flat-pack design facilitates transport, installation, and adaptation to different spaces. This functionality aims to meet the expectations of an audience looking for versatile and striking pieces for their environments.

DIFFERENTIATION

What makes Bo Stool innovative is how it unites historical and contemporary concepts in a single product. Drawing inspiration from Lina Bo Bardi’s work and reinterpreting it with a natural material and minimalist aesthetic creates an emotional and intellectual connection with the user.

The uniqueness of the product makes it stand out, combining a design with great meaning and establishing a genuine connection with contemporary values.Culturally, it celebrates Lina Bo Bardi’s work, highlighting her legacy in Brazilian architecture. The piece not only serves its functional purpose but also acts as a narrative element that promotes Brazilian cultural identity and heritage.

IMPACT

The Bo Stool is a piece that merges functionality, culture, and innovation. By using natural stone, the Bo Stool stands out for incorporating waste from the ornamental stone industry. Furthermore, it ensures greater durability, which reduces the need for replacements over time and, consequently, decreases the amount of waste generated by discarding low-durability products.

The piece also adopts the flat-pack concept, allowing for more efficient transport with compact packaging that reduces volume and material waste. This contributes to reducing environmental impact, making the product more sustainable from the manufacturing process to delivery to the consumer. Lastly, it enriches the environments in which it is placed, bringing people closer to an aesthetic that connects design with well-being.
