2022 IID 🏆 Awards

Gold Winner – Progressive Hair Studio by Sikora Interiors

The design of a hairdressing salon can be an experiment! We wanted to create a unique interior that has never been seen before. The idea of the project was to combine Warsaw’s elegance and big-city style with a raw industrial character. That is why in the interior one can find contrasting elements such as a leather sofa next to a concrete reception desk or a wall in the barber area finished with raw plasterboard set against a neo-antique sculpture. Thanks to the selected materials, it is a very progressive but, at the same time, #instafriendly space – created for a famous influencer. The entrance area of the hair studio opens to the view of the reception desk  made of concrete poured on the spot and crushed with a hammer in such a way as to bring out a more austere character. When entering the salon most of the viewer’s attention is grasped by the mirror cube-structures, covered with construction foil laid so as to form a ruffle set at an angle to the walls. The cube’s function is to separate functional zones of the interior, however on the inside one can find bathrooms  or storage rooms. Behind the counter and the reception area a sculptural element was placed to create a background. It was made by a famous artist – it is an imitation of an elegant curtain, but made of sheet metal. The uniqueness of the salon is emphasized by the presence of real works of art.  Other unique elements include a table in the waiting area with a concrete ball, all hairdressing stands, and carpentry facilities. At the back of the hair studio there is a training room and a barber zone, which is different from the rest of the spaces mainly through the use of the unusual floor made of many colorful stains of paint. In the part of the hair studio destined for male clients, you will find a pool table and a sculpture of a male torso. The design of this hairdressing salon goes beyond the causal framework of design and creates an unconventional place on the map of Warsaw.
