Urban Sprouts is the name of the innovative and eco-sustainable Smart Green Parking project by FS PARK SpA, a company of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group, complete with a latest generation cycle and micro-mobility system. The project completely overturns the classic scheme of the now obsolete city car parks.

Parking changes its philosophy: it “brings forth” a new experience of urban connection in harmony with nature. From today, parking areas become real energy HUBS and urban parks with flower beds, Paulownia trees (the plant that absorbs the most CO2 in the world), draining floors that favor the absorption of rainwater and the growth of grassy surfaces, photovoltaic shelters that collect water for irrigation, smart urban furniture in interconnected floral style that produce energy from the sun and wind for their own needs. Furthermore, a system of Smart Kiosks, digital information points allows access to postal services, registry services, telemedicine, up to the tourist offers of our cities.
The project bears the signature of architect Giancarlo Zema, known for his emotional eco-sustainable architecture and pioneering infrastructures for the mobility of the future. Smart Green Parking includes large photovoltaic surfaces, technological trees and tulip-shaped wind turbines, slow and ultra-fast charging points for electric vehicles but also charging stalls for particular e-bikes and latest generation electric scooters with an attractive design, which attach to and recharge from special “technological gems” that grow from the ground.
Smart Green Parking helps the environment, in fact for every car parked inside the FS PARK car park, a Paulownia tree will be planted, the plant that absorbs the most CO2 in the world, thus creating a real Green Park on national scale, capable of absorbing 100 tons of CO2 every three hectares.
