Gold Winner – hé Retail Store | LubanEra·Design

Exploring the identity of female fashion brand hé, the project embraces “contradictory symbiosis” as its design philosophy. Through the deconstruction of balance and a poetic narrative of materials, the design translates the multi-dimensional identities of women into a perceptible spatial experience. Space, light, and materiality converge to unfold a “multi-faceted feminine universe,” crafting an environment that carries both tension and warmth—conveying a spirit of ease while articulating humanistic sensibility.

Following the narrative sequence of “breaking boundaries – prelude – revelation,” the space embraces an aesthetic grounded in the purity of concrete and the organic calmness of liquid stone and petrified wood. The entrance facade curves inward, softening the boundary and creating a buffer that naturally mediates between the outdoor landscape and the interior. The oval central island anchors both the reception area and the beginning of the circulation route. On either side, flanking walls detach gently from the original structure, converging toward the island to shape a subtle spatial enclosure—visually striking yet understated.

Inside, two large circles demarcate the primary retail zones. Continuous volumes take shape along arcs, standing like quiet islands amid the flow of movement. Their curved forms resonate with the ceiling above, yet subtle shifts and openings break the sense of completeness, echoing the fluid, ever-changing character of the space. With quiet presence, these forms become visual focal points, generating a tension of “separated yet connected” in the space.

The building’s original exposed duct system—intricate and unmovable—became a catalyst for design exploration. Embracing its inherent constraints, the design seeks natural resonance through geometric expressions. Inspired by the cascading rhythm of classical Chinese water features, modern geometric forms—rectangles interwoven with arcs—extend from the duct, creating a sense of spatial and temporal continuity. Interlocking geometric volumes suspended overhead, their layered rhythm descending toward a central “pool,” evoking the imagery of “the Yellow River cascading from the heavens.” This creates a memorable focal point, anchoring the space with poetic resonance.

The ceiling features two large circular light membranes, adjustable in color temperature and brightness. They form a luminous canopy, shaping a “heaven and earth” ambience. Soft light diffuses across the interior, instilling vitality and a sense of sublimity. Beneath this gentle glow, visitors are immersed in a soothing, immersive environment.
