Located in Wanqingsha Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou, the project covers a plot area of about 134,471 square meters, with a gross floor area of 171,683 square meters or so. Aiming to be an advanced and international K12 demonstration school in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the project is designed and built according to high national standards to drive local education to make a new leap forward.
With affection for the local magnificent landscape, the design team reflects on the relationship between culture and building, nature and emotion. The design starts from “students-oriented” concept, continues the tone of traditional Lingnan architecture, and combines modern elements and British style to provide each student with complete campus life experiences including education, entertainment, living and exploration.
The design team emphasizes making good use of the site’s existing natural landform and integrates natural elements into spatial creation. In light of traditional courtyard-style layout, the project arranges kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school in different areas based on major nodes, creating an organic and sustainable campus environment featuring modernity, simplicity, diversity and inclusiveness.
The project adopts red bricks, stone moldings and white window frames together with exquisite and elegant details and decorative patterns. The dominant reddish-brown color shows an affluent and elegant lifestyle while the blue-gray hue represents British romance, shaping the temperament and charm of a century-old school.
Brown stones and red bricks are the unique symbols of classic British-style architecture during the Victorian period. The project introduces the authentic British-style architectural features to Guangzhou with a simple and smooth lines and heavy red brick facades. Each inch of textures and colors inherits the quintessence of British culture.
The building form draws on classical European architectural style, and integrates modern and classical elements on the premise of keeping the architectural functions fully applicable.
The campus shows strong adaptability and integration. The design responds to cultural context, inherits classics and art, and creates an environment that stimulates the spiritual communication and emotional resonance between students and architecture.
